2. Overview

f2weather.com is a purely informational site. There is no registration, no contact form, no newsletter and no advertising. When you visit, we only process the data that is technically required to deliver the page. Audience measurement takes place only with your consent; no external maps or third-party content are embedded.

3. Hosting and content delivery

This website is delivered through the content delivery network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you access the site, Cloudflare acts as a processor and processes technically necessary data, in particular your IP address, in order to route requests, protect the website against attacks and deliver content quickly. Cloudflare may also process data on servers outside the European Union. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses apply.

Cloudflare’s contact within the European Union is Cloudflare Germany GmbH, Rosental 7, 80331 Munich, Germany. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Cloudflare. Further information on data protection at Cloudflare is available at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Each time a page is accessed, the web server briefly stores access logs (server logs). These contain the IP address, date and time, the requested address, the referrer, the browser used and the operating system. This data serves solely the security and stability of operations, is not combined with other data and is deleted automatically after a short period.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in providing the website securely, reliably and quickly. The connection to this website is encrypted throughout using TLS.

4. Weather data

Weather data for Vienna is retrieved and stored on our server from the providers named alongside the data. This includes Open-Meteo for forecasts, model comparisons and CAMS air quality and pollen data. These server-side requests do not transmit visitor data, in particular IP addresses, to the providers. Links to official warning services open their own websites, where their privacy notices apply.

5. Audience measurement with Matomo

We use the open-source analytics software Matomo to understand how this website is used. We operate Matomo ourselves; the data stays on our servers and is not passed on to third parties. The tracking request goes exclusively through our own endpoint at /hwstats.php on our domain; no third-party scripts are loaded.

Audience measurement is only activated once you have explicitly agreed in the consent banner. Without consent, no analytics data is collected and no cookies are set for this purpose. After consent, Matomo sets the cookies _pk_id (recognition of the browser, 13 months) and _pk_ses (current session, 30 minutes). Your IP address is truncated before storage (anonymisation), so that no conclusions can be drawn about your identity. In addition, the pages visited, the time spent, the referrer, screen resolution, browser and operating system are collected.

The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by opening the “Privacy settings” via the link in the page footer and deactivating analytics.

6. Share functions

Below the current weather and below blog posts you will find buttons for sharing via WhatsApp, Telegram, X, Facebook and email, and for copying the link. These are plain links: no script from these providers is loaded when you visit our site and no data is transmitted to them. Only when you click a button does the respective service open (WhatsApp and Facebook: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited; Telegram: Telegram FZ-LLC; X: X Corp. or Twitter International Unlimited Company). From that point on, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies. On mobile devices you can also use your operating system’s share dialog; we do not receive any data in that case.

7. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (email address, name, content of the message) in order to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, or Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for contractual enquiries. We delete the data once your enquiry has been fully dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply.

8. Consent management, cookies and local settings

To manage your consents we use the open-source software Klaro, which is loaded entirely from our own server. Klaro stores your decision in the cookie hw_klaro (lifetime 180 days) so that the banner does not reappear on every visit. No data is transmitted to third parties. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR in conjunction with § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG, as the storage is necessary to document your consent.

Choose a language through the German or English web address or the language switch. No language cookie is set; an existing hw_lang cookie is removed on the next page visit with JavaScript enabled. Your choice between light and dark appearance is stored locally in your browser (Local Storage, key hw_theme). This setting stays on your device and is not transmitted to us or third parties. This website sets further cookies only with your consent (see section 5).

9. Your rights

You have the following rights with regard to the personal data concerning you:

  • right of access (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
  • right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
  • right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
  • right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR),
  • right to withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR).

To exercise these rights, an informal email to [email protected] is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data (Art. 77 GDPR). Competent authorities include the supervisory authority of your habitual residence or the authority responsible for us: Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen (State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony), Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany, lfd.niedersachsen.de.

No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place.

10. Changes to this privacy policy

We adapt this privacy policy whenever the website, the services used or the legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies.
