Live
The weather lab lets you compare the same view under different conditions. Choose a preset, change the time and watch the sky and light change.
Choose your own view
Drag to rotate the city and use the mouse wheel to zoom. On a phone, rotate with one finger and pinch with two fingers to change the distance.
Use the place selector for the available viewpoints. The compass points north and the fullscreen symbol expands the scene. Open More 3D controls for the additional functions; Pause animation stops the movement.
An experiment is not a forecast
Tour takes you through places and weather patterns; Film plays a prepared sequence. Live weather returns to the available weather data.
Manually selected weather applies to the simulation. Use the rain forecast to decide whether you need an umbrella outside.
Behind the scene
Weather data comes via Open-Meteo. Sun and moon positions are calculated for New York and the selected time. People, traffic and lighting are animated; model water levels and currents are not measurements.
Building footprints and terrain are prepared for the city model, missing heights are supplemented and details are simplified. Open Licence for the geodata sources, processing notes and terms of use. The source package can also be downloaded there.
