Live
New York as a 3D city model with real-time weather: choose a view across Lower Manhattan, towards the World Trade Center or Brooklyn Bridge. Clouds, precipitation and light follow the data for your selected time.
Choose your own view
Drag to rotate the city and use the mouse wheel to zoom. On a phone, rotate with one finger and pinch with two fingers to change the distance.
Use the place selector for the available viewpoints. The compass points north and the fullscreen symbol expands the scene. Open More 3D controls for the additional functions; Pause animation stops the movement.
Now, later and your own experiments
The timeline covers the available next 48 hours in New York local time. Now returns to the current moment. Tomorrow and Day after tomorrow offer further times where forecast data is available.
Live weather uses the latest available data. Later times show a forecast. The weather details identify the values and update time; the scene is not a weather camera.
Choose Demo to enter the weather lab. Select sunshine, rain, thunderstorms, snow, fog or a gale. These experiments change the view, not the forecast for New York.
Behind the scene
Weather data comes via Open-Meteo. Sun and moon positions are calculated for New York and the selected time. People, traffic and lighting are animated; model water levels and currents are not measurements.
Building footprints and terrain are prepared for the city model, missing heights are supplemented and details are simplified. Open Licence for the geodata sources, processing notes and terms of use. The source package can also be downloaded there.
