How does the same row of buildings look in sunshine and in rain after dark? Compare them directly in the weather lab. Your chosen weather pattern applies to the simulation; it is not a forecast for London.

Change your view

Drag with the mouse button held down to rotate the view. Use the mouse wheel to zoom. On a phone, rotate with one finger and pinch two fingers together or apart to change the distance.

Use the place selector to choose one of the available viewpoints. The compass marked N indicates north. The fullscreen symbol expands the scene to fill the screen.

On a phone, open More 3D controls for the additional buttons. View sequence moves automatically through several viewpoints. Pause animation stops the ongoing movement.

Your weather experiment

Choose a pattern in the Weather lab. The timeline changes the time, including the light and positions of the sun and moon. Compare the same view in sunshine, rain, a thunderstorm, snow, fog or a gale.

Tour combines places, times of day and weather patterns into a guided sequence. Film plays a prepared sequence of camera movements and weather changes. The Live weather link returns to the regular page with the available weather data.

Manually chosen weather patterns are experiments. Use the forecast to decide whether you need an umbrella today.

What the scene shows

The sky, light and weather effects illustrate data for the selected time. They are not footage from a weather camera. People, vehicles and lighting are animated; they do not reveal actual traffic conditions or the number of people at a location.

Data and city model

Weather forecasts come via Open-Meteo. Sun and moon positions are calculated for London and the selected time. The model has an adjustable Thames water level; this is a simulation, not a measured tide.

Full credits and the prepared geodata are available under Licence in the bottom left corner of the scene.
