Live
From St Paul’s dome to Tower Bridge, this scene turns weather data into a moving city view. Choose a landmark and a time. The same view can feel inviting in evening light and quite different in the rain.
Change your view
Drag with the mouse button held down to rotate the view. Use the mouse wheel to zoom. On a phone, rotate with one finger and pinch two fingers together or apart to change the distance.
Use the place selector to choose one of the available viewpoints. The compass marked N indicates north. The fullscreen symbol expands the scene to fill the screen.
On a phone, open More 3D controls for the additional buttons. View sequence moves automatically through several viewpoints. Pause animation stops the ongoing movement.
Now and later
The timeline covers the available next 48 hours. Tomorrow and Day after tomorrow offer times where forecast data is available. Preview advances time and viewpoints automatically; Now returns to the current time.
Live weather means a view using the latest available data. Current values may also come from a weather model. For later times, the scene shows the forecast. Open the weather details for the values and data timestamp. Choose Demo to enter the weather lab and select your own weather patterns.
What the scene shows
The sky, light and weather effects illustrate data for the selected time. They are not footage from a weather camera. People, vehicles and lighting are animated; they do not reveal actual traffic conditions or the number of people at a location.
Data and city model
Weather forecasts come via Open-Meteo. Sun and moon positions are calculated for London and the selected time. The model has an adjustable Thames water level; this is a simulation, not a measured tide.
