New York opens Monday at 5 °C, so a jacket earns its keep on the morning commute. By midday it is around 12 °C, the afternoon peaks at 17 °C and the sun stays out for nearly ten hours. No rain is expected before midnight. The evening cools quickly, from about 11 °C at 19:00 to 9 °C later on.

The night stays dry, but cloud thickens and the wind picks up towards dawn. At around 7 °C it is milder than the night before.

Tuesday brings more wind than weather: plenty of sunshine, 19 °C in the afternoon and no rain, but gusts of up to 52 km/h in the morning. The wind eases somewhat later and the sky clears for the afternoon.

Wednesday stays windy at 16 °C with gusts near 45 km/h, and Thursday brings 19 °C again along with gusts around 50 km/h. Friday cools to 15 °C under bright skies, and the weekend looks friendly at 14 to 16 °C with much lighter wind. A noticeably colder spell with highs near 9 °C is hinted at from Thursday 29 October, though that remains an uncertain trend.

The retrospective shows a dry, cool week: Saturday brought just under 18 °C with gusts to 54 km/h and 0.9 mm of rain, Sunday then almost unbroken sunshine but only 16 °C and 3 °C overnight. That cool, dry pattern still carries Monday. There is no heat spell to speak of, as the 30 °C mark was not reached on any of the past days. Real change only arrives on Tuesday, and it comes through wind rather than rain.

Today the wind blows from the north to north-east at 13 to 16 km/h, with the strongest gusts reaching about 25 km/h in the afternoon. On Tuesday it freshens sharply: gusts of up to 52 km/h in the morning will be noticeable on bridges and exposed stretches in particular.
