Los Angeles sits just under 29 °C at midday and should reach around 32 °C in the early afternoon. From there it falls away quickly: 23 °C by 18:00 and 20 °C late in the evening. No rain is expected before Monday midday, and the air stays very dry at about 25 per cent humidity.

After two nights that stayed above 21 °C, the temperature drops to 16 °C before dawn. The wind eases after sunset and swings round to the north-east.

Monday opens fresh at 16 °C, reaches 24 °C by 09:00 and is back at 30 °C by midday. It stays dry, with south to south-westerly gusts of around 20 km/h.

Tuesday ends the run: 27 °C is warm but below the 30 °C mark. Wednesday brings the first real change, with 25 °C, gusts to 30 km/h and around 20 mm of rain. Thursday stays cool and showery at 22 °C before the weekend turns dry and warmer again.

The model history shows a steady build into this spell: 34.0 °C on Thursday, 35.9 °C on Friday, 32.5 °C on Saturday and about 32 °C likely today. That makes today the fourth hot day in a row, with Monday at 30 °C the probable fifth and last. The nights are what is really shifting – from 21.8 and 22.0 °C in the previous two nights down to 16 °C tonight. Wednesday's rain would be the first meaningful fall since 12 October.

The wind starts light from the south, freshens from the west in the afternoon and gusts to about 26 km/h between 15:00 and 18:00. On Monday it turns south to south-west with similar gusts near 20 km/h – noticeable on open stretches, but nothing that should trouble city driving.
